Since November 2019, the Chinese government has sponsored projects meant to increase access to clean water for people in rural areas by drilling boreholes in different parts of Rwanda. The project covers 11 Districts located in Eastern, City of Kigali and Southern provinces where a total of 200 boreholes will be constructed. The Project is estimated to cost 5,760,000USD upon completion.

Over the past 20 years, CGC has been actively involved in the socio-economic development of Rwanda in the area of infrastructure construction, including construction of irrigation, water supply, dam and hydro-power projects. Up to now, CGC has successfully completed 30 projects in Rwanda. China and Rwanda will be celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations in a week’s time, on November 12, 2021.
