Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki is expected to pay astate visit to China beginning on 14th May, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying announced on Friday.
During the visit, The Eritrean leader will hold talks with President Xi and other Chinese leaders. The two leaders are expected to discuss a range of issues of common interest on bilateral relations, regional and international concerns.
China and Eritrea have always enjoyed good bilateral relations and China has provided Eritrea with assistance in economic and social development. This will be President Afwerki’s first state visit to China since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1993.
The two countries have been working together to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, including trade, infrastructure, agriculture and investment.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership and friendship between China and Eritrea.
