Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong met with Martin Niteretse, Burundi’s minister of interior, community development and public security, on Wednesday in Beijing.

Wang said that China is ready to work with Burundi to enhance bilateral friendship and mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial and pragmatic cooperation, and strengthen security cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road cooperation.

The two countries should also jointly crack down on transnational crimes, comprehensively boost law enforcement and security cooperation, and create a more secure and sound environment for the economic and social development of the two countries, Wang said.

Niteretse said that Burundi is willing to strengthen exchanges and communication with China and deepen law enforcement and security cooperation.
