Ambassador Talks: Tanzania ambassador discusses governance in China for 100th anniversary of CPC

What does China’s growth mean to the rest of the world, especially to developing countries? CGTN’s Dong Xue took this question to Mr. Mbelwa Kairuki, Tanzania’s ambassador to China.

MBELWA KAIRUKI Tanzania Ambassador to China “100th anniversary is a milestone, very important milestone to the Communist Party, but also to China as a whole.

“We’ve seen the efforts to build the nation together, also we’ve seen the efforts to build nationalism among Chinese people in the sense of nationality.

“Now, they are still in the frontiers in terms of building a community with a shared future through initiatives like Belt and Road. But also we’ve seen a remarkable achievement in area of science and technology; China is a leader in technologies like 5G, the leader on the Internet of Things.

“Personally, I’ve attended two conferences organized by CPC, one in Fujian Province, where a local CPC shared with the diplomatic community on what they did, the experience they went through, but also the involvement of the CPC leadership from the grassroot to the top, these are the lessons that we take home and we hope our countries will adopt some of the measures, some of the experiences, of course, take into account our own experience and local conditions.”

DONG XUE CGTN Reporter “How do you evaluate the Communist Party of China’s ability to undergo self-reform and innovate?”

MBELWA KAIRUKI Tanzania Ambassador to China “The prosperity that we’re seeing today in China, of which the entire world is benefiting from, both developed countries, developing countries, least developing countries, laws have been passed to set an environment that is conducive and supportive for China engagement with the outside world. And now the technological advancement you are talking about, the 5G makes life easier not only in China, but other countries that they decided to embrace this technology. Youth of today can take advantage of this technology to create employment, to engage in useful activities, which is a major contribution to the economy both in China but also outside China.”

DONG XUE CGTN Reporter “Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, what’s your take on China’s contributions to the global economy and geopolitics?”

MBELWA KAIRUKI Tanzania Ambassador to China “China’s growth, the outcome of reforms and opening up in China created opportunity for everyone, especially developed countries. Today, China is number one investor to many countries. China’s number one trading partner to many countries. Companies like Apple from the U.S., they are making huge profits in China. Companies like Boeing, I fly every month; I travel around China and all the aircrafts are either Boeing or Airbus. It means they are selling. And there are many more examples like this. African countries for that matter, we’re benefiting a lot. China today is number one investor in Tanzania, number one contractor in Tanzania, number one trading partner in Tanzania. And yet, we have not exploited even 30 percent of the potential that exists in China.”
