American billionaires and investors Warren Bufet and Charlie Munger on Saturday said that U.S. and China have a lot to benefit in strengthen cooperation and bilateral ties than escalation of tensions between the two super powers. As tensions have persisted in the past few years, observers wonder for how long the two countries can continue to decouple from each other, with consequences that not only affects the economy of the two countries but have a spillover effect to the global economy.

Warren Buffet the Chairman and CEO of BerkshireHathaway, “Oracle of Omaha” who at the multinational’s annual meeting in Omaha, Nebraska said that the two super powers to have a mutual interest in continuing cooperation. The 92 year old Billionaire and investor further said that it is “imperative” for both China and the United States to understand “what the game is and understand that you can’t push too hard.   By working together, the United States and China can both become more wonderful countries.”

The Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Charlie Munger, also mentioned the benefits of cooperation between U.S. and China calling for the two countries to settle their widening differences.  “Apple has done (this) by engaging in a partnership with China as a big supplier. It’s been good for Apple and good for China. That’s the kind of business we’ll be doing with China.”He further said that everything that increases tension between the two countries is “stupid, stupid, stupid.”His advice was that if there is anything that the U.S. should do, is   to get along with China “and have a lot of free trade with China… its in our mutual interest.”

If only the Biden administration in Washington could listen to the advice and wisdom of Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger, indeed U.S. and China would not only prosper but the cooperation would as well benefit the global economy and the two countries would champion building a global community with a shared future.
