The twelfth meeting of the China- Africa Think Tanks Forum starts today at Jinhua Narada Hotel in Jinhuacity, Zhejiang province, bringing together Chinese and African government officials, some African diplomatic envoys in China, representatives of international organizations, leaders, experts and scholars of well-known think tanks, and representatives of Chinese and African media and enterprises, to pool wisdom of the Chinese and African think tanks, push forward to share thoughts on promoting the spirit of China-Africa Friendship and Cooperation and jointly acting on the Global Development Initiative.
Under the theme of “Centennial History of China-Africa Rejuvenation and Cooperation”, the 12th Forum will focus on four topics, namely:
Centennial History of China-Africa Unity and Rejuvenation;
The Principles of Sincerity, Real Results, Amity and Good Faith and the Principles; of Pursuing the Greater Good and Shared Interests Opens a New Era of China-Africa Cooperation; China-Africa Cooperation under the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative and Toward Common Prosperity: Africa’s 2063 Vision and Chinese Modernization.
The China-Africa Think Tanks Forum (CATTF) is an initiative by the Institute of African Studies at Zhejiang Normal University (IASZNU) launched in October, 2011 to create a platform for dialogue and exchanges between Chinese and African think tanks. Within the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), CATTF nurtures long-term cooperation and encourages academic exchanges among the academics and policy makers in China and Africa.
The year 2023 is a special year as it marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Organization of African Unity, the 60th anniversary of late Premier Zhou Enlai’s first visit to Africa, the 60th anniversary of China’s dispatch of medical teams to Africa, and also the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping first put forward the BRI, the Principles of Sincerity, Real Results, Amity and Good Faith and the Principles of Pursuing the Greater Good and Shared Interests, as well as the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.
To commemorate these historical and important events, the 12th Meeting of CATTF, hosted by The Secretariat of the Chinese Follow-up Committee of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), was co-organized by Institute of African Studies (College of African Area and Country Studies) at Zhejiang Normal University (IASZNU), and Jinhua Municipal People’s Government. The meeting is taking place from 30th to 31st May 2023.
