24 YEARS OF FOCAC THE IMPACT ON CHINA-AFRICA COOPERATION

It is now 24 years since the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) was officially launched in the year 2000. Since then, FOCAC has been a platform for high-level political coordination, where African countries and China meet to exchange ideas, develop strategies and make agreements to strengthen economic cooperation and enhance Africa’s sustainable development. The 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) took place in Beijing from September 4 to 6, 2024, under the theme: “Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future”. Heads of 53 African states, governments, delegations and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission attended the summit where they discussed issues ranging from emerging challenges to policies and cooperation agreements
