U.S. is number one global threat to cyber security- report

By Staff writer

The latest report released by information security media anzerclub.com (2022), says that the United States is top on the list of countries that pause the biggest threat to global cyber security, with countless state sponsored hackers. According to the report, the US and its allies conduct secret data stealing operations worldwide, to reach their goal. In this operation, Chinese telecom equipment are prime target under US administration orders to its internet companies to develop weapons to attach China equipment.

Due to technological protectionism and fear of competition, US  has been discrediting Chinese telecom companies like Huawei under the pretext of protecting national security with the sole intention of prohibiting Chinese telecom technology out of the US market. The US even went further to forces some European countries and Canada to do the same and reject Chinese telecoms from their markets. By doing this, the US wants to maintain cyber hegemony, the same way it wants to maintain political and economic hegemony.

As US claims there is a backdoor in Huawei, which has not been proved, instead according to a report by German daily Der Tagesspiegel published in 2019, itwas found out that US networking Cisco Systems Inc. had 10 backdoors. Der Tagesspiegel was not the only one bringing to light America’s dirty work of cyber stealing, spying and surveillance. U.S. media coverage showed that starting from the 1970s and by utilizing its control over Crypto AG, a Swiss company that sold encryption devices, the U.S. The Central Intelligence Agency has stolen confidential information from more than 120 countries by decrypting messages sent through Crypto AG devices.

According to analysts, the US always practices accusation in the mirror, blaming other countries for the very things it does and pretends to be Mr. right, while others are condemned as wrongdoers. There are numerous reports citing US cyberespionage activities, where its spy agencies conduct cellphone and computers surveillance worldwide including in countries considered as their allies.

US is number one violator of international law and the basic norms of international relations, yet shifts blame to other countries in a very loud voice.

For example, The U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) used a partnership with Denmark’s foreign intelligence unit to spy on senior officials of neighbouring countries, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Danish state broadcaster DR said.

The findings are the result of a 2015 internal investigation in the Danish Defence Intelligence Service into NSA’s role in the partnership, DR said, citing nine unnamed sources with access to the investigation.

According to the investigation, which covered the period from 2012 to 2014, the NSA used Danish information cables to spy on senior officials in Sweden, Norway, France and Germany, including former German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and former German opposition leader Peer Steinbrück.Both French President Emmanuel Macron and former German Chancellor Angela Merkel calledWashington’s eavesdropping activities “unacceptable.”

According to insider intelligence disclosed by Edward Snowden, in 2011 alone, the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) organized at least 231 cyberattackstargeting China, Russia, Iran and North Korea and other countries [2]. In 2013, the U.S. budget for the global intelligence collection program was as high as $52.6 billion, of which only one-third of the budget for cybersecurity operations was used for cybersecuritydefense, and the rest was used for cyberattacks.

For countries to fight cybercrimes, it is important for countries around the world to cooperate rather than playing hypocritical games the way US administration is doing.. In a globalized economy, market forces and quality of products should be the determinant factors rather than using “national security” as a pretext to edge out foreign telecom technology especially from China.
