Xi 2022 message: China has led the world in economic development as well as COVID-19 prevention and control

Chinese president Xi Jinping said that China has led the world in economic development and COVID-19 prevention and control.  Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, said this while delivering a speech at the New Year gathering organized by the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in Beijing, on Friday. 

In the year 2021, China was able to support and promote the return of peace to Hong Kong as well as maintaining stability and prosperity in Macao, Xi noted. ON deepening reforms, the Chinese leader said that the country had completed 50 major reform tasks set by the central commission for deepening overall reforms, along with 100 more other reforms. In general, the country has formulated a total of 216 reform plans.   

China kept the promise of making COVID-19 vaccine global public goods, advanced the Belt and Road cooperation, making contributions to global peace and development. Xi, also noted that his country is committed to true multilateralism. 

“In the year to come, we should uphold and improve the system of multiparty cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the CPC,” Xi said, calling for efforts to consolidate and develop the broadest possible patriotic united front.

“We should do better in building consensus, and strive to pool extensive wisdom and strength to realize the goals and fulfill the missions of the Party and the state,” Xi said.

Xi called on the Chinese people to strengthen their unity and work together to strive for new and greater victories and glory.

In another new year address through China Media and the Internet, president Xi noted that at the historical convergence of the Two Centenary Goals, the Chinese people have set out on a new journey of building a modern socialist country in all respects and are making confident strides on the path toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Speaking about the 2022 Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games about that will start in a month’s time, President Xi said that the world is turning its eyes to China, and China is ready to present great games to the world. 

Xi also took time to thank different groups of people serving the country in various capacities at home, abroad and in space, sending them best wishes for the new year 2022.  “As we speak, three Chinese astronauts are on duty in outer space; our fellow compatriots overseas are still working very hard; our people posted to diplomatic missions and businesses abroad as well as overseas Chinese students are bravely holding on; and our numerous dream-chasers are keeping up their good work. I salute all your great efforts, and extend to you best wishes for the New Year,” Xi said.
