Chinese and African scholars, experts, government officials and media executives Will today engage in a one day webinar to exchange views on the 70 years journey of China- Africa diplomatic relations.

Over the past seven decades, China and Africa have built a dynamic partnership founded on mutual respect, solidarity, and shared development aspirations. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and several African countries in the mid-1950s, cooperation has expanded from political solidarity to encompass trade, infrastructure, industrialization, agriculture, healthcare, education, technology, green development, and cultural exchanges. Today, China is Africa's largest trading partner, with a trade volume estimated at about $197-208 billion in the first half of 2026, driven by strong export growth and a new zero-tariff policy. African countries have become important partners in advancing South-South cooperation and promoting a more inclusive global governance system.

As the partnership enters its eighth decade, the webinar participants will reflect on the achievements, examine emerging opportunities and challenges of China-Africa relations, and explore innovative pathways for strengthening cooperation in various areas.

The discussion is expected to produce practical recommendations for enhancing China-Africa cooperation, deepen mutual understanding, identify new areas of collaboration, and contribute to informed policy dialogue on building a stronger China-Africa community with a shared future.

The seminar is organized by Africa-China Review in partnership with the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda.
